I did see info about the preorder box a few days ago, I think it was an interview on a game site somewhere. It said it would go on sale around the 20th of this month and I believe it gives three weapons.... I'll try to find the thingy

Can't seem to find it
but this page atleast confirms there is a preorder box

The price does not surprise me, but the date is close to just about 2 months away before it comes out. Well I don’t know what to say; I am happy they finally got it out, but dissatisfied it took them this long to figure to make the date and price official now. I mean you still have all those triple "A" titles probably likely coming out this year, and only a few months away too. As I have said about the price before if they charge $39.99 U.S. for those PvP editions it was inevitably going to be that price.

Yay! Though being a teacher, I'm a bit bummed that it comes out right when I'm starting up school again. I was kinda hoping for a July release so I'd have all summer to play. I'm still excited though!

Now, currently the Aussie dollar is at 85c American, which would mean a game in Australia costs US$85. Where does the other $35 go? Shipping? Oh please.

/fistshake at EB
With current exchange rates US$39.99 = AU$46.56.
I already placed a pre-order with my local EB Games, and they have it listed for AU$49.99.

US$39.99 is ~AU$46.56

I was actually expecting it to be August 31st-September 31st so I'm not surprised at all. Funny thing is EBgames/Gamestop have had it right all along (lol).

I was personally hoping it'd be a little bit sooner... Releasing an expansion at the beginning of a Uni semester seems almost like a slap in the face to Uni students. Don't think I'll be as patient as I'd like for another two months.. but I'll be trying hard to forget about it until it comes out.

No extra character slots, they're worth 10$ each, each chapter had at least 2 of those.
No new professions.
No new PVP modes.
Less armor sets (40), each chapter had more.
Less heroes than Nightfall (10 compared to 15)
Oh, and it requires a previous chapter.

30$ sounds like a fitting price.
Given all that it is lacking in regards to a Full Chapter why is it priced so high?
Are two character slots and two Professions only worth $10 combined?

I vote for a GW:EN price alert sticky so we know where to get the best deals.

You ignore few facts there.
- They probably got best voice acting compared to even Nightfall possibly or at least same quality.
- Expansion is longer than any other chapter or maybe two first chapters combined.
- They put many things what people wanted to it and what worked well in past Guild Wars games (mini games, rewards give additional skills with gold, traps, dungeons and more.
- It explains what start events what eventually leads to GW 2's situation (humans are not dominant and some other races become also more major force).

NF voice-acting for the most part was no better than in the first two games. Maybe one or two exceptions like Morgahn & Koss, but that's it.

There is no basis to say the expansion is longer than any other chapter. I would wager that isn't the case; if it was then it would have been promoted as such. In fact when asked directly by an interviewer how long the expansion was, a straight answer was not given. Which would seem to imply it is shorter than the other games, possibly by a lot.

- Nightfall still had horrible voice acting, imo, and the story was worse than Faction's story imo. Also, how is it a fact that they "got the best voice acting" when you even say with "probably" which shows you don't even know? Also, Nightfall at the EB here is in the bargen bin for around $25 unlike the first two.
- Prophecies had 25 missions and this one they keep talking about it having 18.
- This makes it cost more how?
- See above.

So then how does those make it cost as much as it is and what makes it beyond a normal expansion as all you named are just expansion materials?

Or it could imply its a hell of a lot longer, or they just didn't want to say anything about it...

personally i think the second and I hope it is, i hate to know how long a book/film/game will take me to finish

People are complaining about the price? This is a pretty standard price for expansions, at least in the UK. Seems very reasonable to me, especially as it seems to be at least as large as the stand alone campaigns, if not larger. If you don't agree with the pricing then don't buy it, it'll drop in price eventually.

What exactly is the point of the sneak peek? Why not just open the game a day or two early for people who pre-order?
